What is the difference between platinum and white gold?
Platinum is a completely white metal, and over time will “age” with a lovely patina, that creates a vintage look if not repolished every so often (repolishing will bring the platinum back to it’s bright shiny white again). White gold is created by casting a yellow gold setting, and plating it in a metal called rhodium. This creates the bright white color we are used to seeing. If the ring is left without re-plating every so often, the rhodium will eventually wear down to some of the yellow gold showing through underneath.
Rhodium: What is it used for?
White gold is created by casting a yellow gold setting, and plating it in a metal called rhodium. This creates the bright white color we are used to seeing. If the ring is left without re-plating every so often, the rhodium will eventually wear down to some of the yellow gold showing through underneath.
How can I find my ring size?

What is a laser inscription on the diamond and why is it important?
This is an important feature that identifies each diamond to their corresponding certification from a grading laboratory. When the diamonds are graded, they are given a unique identifying number which is laser-etched on the girdle of the diamond, and can only be viewed with magnification. This ensures you can always verify the diamond and it’s corresponding grading report.
How can I be sure the diamond I ordered is the same one I receive?
This is where the laser inscription plays an important role! Each diamond will have a corresponding grading report you can view prior to purchase, and this certification number shown on the report will be laser inscribed on the girdle of the diamond. This can be seen with magnification and a careful eye to spot it.
If I purchase a diamond loose from Precious Carbon can I have it set into a Precious Carbon setting at a later date?
Of course! If you need some more time to decide on a setting but are ready to purchase the diamond, please reach out to us HERE and we can hold the diamond with the jeweler to give you time to select the setting. If you have already received the diamond loose, we can facilitate an insured shipping label to send your stone back to be set once you’ve selected the setting.
Can I have a diamond I purchased elsewhere set into a Precious Carbon setting?
Currently, we are not able to set a diamond that was purchased from a business other than Precious Carbon.
Do you sell settings without a diamond from Precious Carbon?
Since all settings are crafted uniquely to fit the specific diamond it will be holding, we require settings to be purchased along with a Precious Carbon diamond.
Are all diamonds listed on Precious Carbon certified with a grading report?
Yes, every diamond listed on our site is graded by a highly-regarded gemological laboratory. We list diamonds graded by The Gemological Institute of America (GIA), the International Gemological Institute (IGI), or the American Gemological Society (AGS).

This would be the instance of ordering two (2) or more similar items, to compare in person and return the other. Should we find this to be the case, our team will reach out to you to assist in deciding which order you would like to continue with. We are more than happy to offer our help in these cases prior to purchase!
What is your Conflict-Free diamond policy?
